I was walking a half a mile or more a day 5 or 6 days a week. The route was It was actually harder on my vehicle, too. The mail centers were a big problem since they didn't understand that rural carriers are on an evaluated system so when I deliver their mail didn't matter.
I went to a 50 mile country route. I just don't think I could handle walking 9 or 10 miles a day. Also, some people have a much higher metabolism than others. I am supposed to eat a small meal every 3 hours because I burn up calories so fast. I'm friends with a city carrier that is trying to talk all of his customers into moving their boxes out to the street. His knees used to bother him constantly since he walked nearly the entire route.
